Family: Woman shot, brought to CCB, succumbs to injuries


INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – According to her family members, 20-year-old Azya Knowles, has died from wounds she received during a shooting Wednesday.

A pickup truck, riddled with bullet holes, drove to the CCB Wednesday.  Knowles had been shot and was a passenger in the vehicle.

Police took the driver, William Smith, in for questioning. Investigators arrested Smith for carrying a weapon by a violent felon.

Emergency crews rushed Knowles to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition.

Investigators are trying to determine where specifically the shooting happened, and who is responsible for pulling the trigger.
