Ford, Indianapolis launch City: One Challenge to make getting around easier

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Mayor Joe Hogsett joined Ford Motor Co. on Tuesday to kick off the Indianapolis City: One Challenge.

It’s part of the city’s plan to improve public transportation, and officials are asking local residents for help.

Over the next few months, anyone with an idea or complaint can head to the challenge’s website to voice their frustrations.

Those ideas will then be looked at by experts and “workshopped” into a realistic proposal. The winning proposal will be funded up to $100,000.

Jeff Jones, vice president of North American City Solutions at Ford, said, “When we think about mobility, even if you’re using a privatized vehicle, you will be affected by other mobility modes as you go through the streets and other challenges, so this gives more freedom to everyone.”

So, even those who have their own car and don’t use public transport can still submit ideas.

The entire challenge runs through August, but you can submit your ideas over the next few months. Workshops are expected to start in mid-April.
