Frankton man dies in rural Hamilton County crash
CICERO, Ind. (WISH) — A 47-year-old Frankton man died Friday afternoon in a crash in rural Hamilton County, police said.
Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office deputies were sent shortly after 4:20 p.m. Friday to a crash near the intersection of East 236th Street and Deming Road. That’s about 1-1/2 miles east of U.S. 31 and 2-1/2 miles west of Cicero.
Christopher Woodward died at the crash scene.
Deputies believe a silver Chevrolet Impala car was eastbound on 236th trying to pass several vehicles. When the Impala tried to reenter the eastbound lane, it clipped the rear end of a black Kia Soul car, driven by Woodward. Subsequently, the Soul was pushed into the westbound lane and collided head-on with a blue Jeep Wrangler sport utility vehicle.
The two other drivers were taken to St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital with various injuries, police said. The other drivers were not identified in a news release from the sheriff’s office.
Investigators believe speed and unsafe lane movement were contributing factors.
Toxicology reports are pending to determine if impairment was a factor.
