Gas main rupture leaves dozens without heat

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Dozens of people were still without heat and gas Saturday night after a car crashed into a gas main on the city’s southwest side.

According to police, around 4:30 p.m. Saturday a woman driving a car ran into a gas main meter near the Hidden Oaks Estates apartment complex near Interstate 70 and Sam Jones Expressway.

Officials with Citizens Energy told News 8 the woman also hit a tree during the wreck.

The tree damaged a gas main connected to the apartment buildings.

Citizens Energy expected the gas main rupture would be fixed late Saturday night.

The driver of the car was arrested on an unrelated warrant.

No word on what charges she may face in relation to the crash.
