I-69 southbound reopens after 2 crashes in Anderson

ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) — Flames erupted late Tuesday afternoon when a truck with a car trailer went into a ditch in one of two Tuesday afternoon crashes that closed I-69, Indiana State Police said.

The road reopened shortly before 11 p.m. Earlier, southbound traffic had been diverted off I-69 at the exit for State Road 109 and Scatterfield Road. Crews on Tuesday night cleared debris while state transportation workers repaired guardrails and a bridge.

The first crash occurred shortly before 6 p.m. in the southbound lanes between Madison Avenue and the State Road 9 exit in Anderson. A Penske box truck with a car hauler carrying a vehicle went into a ditch and burst into flames.

Later, three vehicles collided in a separate crash.

No one was injured in either of the crashes.
