IDOE: Every Indiana teacher is the 2021 Teacher of the Year

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indiana Department of Education recognized all Indiana teachers collectively as the 2021 Teacher of the Year Tuesday.

Traditionally one educator each year is recognized each year, but IDOE decided to recognize all educators for their work during the pandemic.

“The COVID-19 pandemic brought new complexities and challenges to schools with no advance warning,” said State Superintendent Dr. Jennifer McCormick, in a release to News 8. “Teachers across our state have displayed a level of flexibility and commitment, underscoring the fact Hoosiers really are #INthisTogether.”

IDOE said it’s proud to take this opportunity to recognize those serving Indiana’s 1.2 million students.

The traditional process will resume for selection of the 2022 teacher of the year, according to IDOE.
