IMPD chief talks recent fatal police shootings, body cameras

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – These are difficult days for Indianapolis when it comes to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and the police they serve.

In April, an officer was shot to death on duty, unifying the city in grief.

This month, two men died from police gunfire, revealing ruptures in the relationship.

IMPD Chief Randal Taylor was on Daybreak Tuesday.

He discussed this month’s deadly police shootings, which happened just hours apart but with very different circumstances and when he expected the final results of those investigations.

Also, Taylor talked about his reasoning for suspending/reassigning a detective who was heard on camera flippantly making a controversial remark.

Additionally, Taylor talked about officers getting body cameras and when we can expect to see them on the street.
