IMPD: Driver in fatal crash believed to be driving drunk

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – One person has died and three others were injured in a northwest side crash on Monday, according to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officials.

IMPD said one person died in the crash, which happened on West 46th Street and Moller Road, around 5:45 a.m.

The decided driver was found unresponsive and was pronounced dead by emergency responders.

Officials say they believe the driver was driving under the influence. Two people in that car received minor injuries and were taken to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital.

Police say the man was driving east on 46th Street when he crossed the center line into an oncoming car. That person had minor leg pain and was expected to be OK.

IMPD had both the west an eastbound lanes blocked until 8:20 a.m. to clear the scene.

The identity of the driver who died was not released as of Monday morning.
