IMPD: Man dies after fight, incident ruled self-defense

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A man is dead after a fight in which he fell down stairs, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

On Sept. 9, just after 8 p.m., officers were called to the 1700 block of Cholla Terrace for a disturbance.

Police said that during the incident, Brian Hale, 50, chased another man up a flight of stairs, began fighting and then, ultimately fell down the stairs.

Both people involved in the incident were transported to the hospital for treatment.

Police said Hale passed away due to his injuries on Sept. 25.

IMPD said the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office investigated the case and determined it to be self-defense on behalf of the other person involved.
