INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Every Saturday WISH-TV highlights a local company together with our partners at Indiana Grown.
The father and son team behind Fischer Farms in Celestine, Ind., stopped by the Daybreak studios to talk about the farm that has been in their family since the Civil War.
“Since 1865. My great-grandfather bought it from the sheriff when the Civil War veteran (who owned the farm) didn’t return,” said Dave Fischer. “Our home farm has been in the family a long time.”
Dave said 500 mama cows now live on the 750-acre farm.
“Plus we have calves of all sizes, from born yesterday to ready to go to market,” said Dave.
Dave’s son, Joseph, also works with his father on the farm. He helps manage the distribution of their beef products to the more than 100 restaurants and retail sites they work with in Indiana.
