MONTICELLO, Ind. (AP) – The Indiana National Guard says about 30 members of a military police unit will deploy to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

The Guard has scheduled a departure ceremony Saturday for the Danville-based 38th Military Police Company Saturday morning at Twin Lakes High School in Monticello.

The Guard says the unit will help with operations of Joint Task Force-Guantanamo in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, the combat mission in Afghanistan. It’s assigned to provide secure, humane and care and custody at the base’s detention facilities.
