Indiana music venues need support to survive amid pandemic

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WISH) – The Indiana Independent Venue Alliance (IIVA) is asking for support to help well-known stages survive the coronavirus pandemic.

IIVA is asking for support for the #SaveOurStagesAct.

The venue alliance includes places like Hi-Fi, the Vogue and the Bluebird.

Live Nation, one of the largest entertainment companies has reported a 98% loss in revenue compared to this time last year.

The venue alliance wants people to imagine how even smaller venues are holding up these days.

Supporters can send a letter to Congress for the Save Our Stages and RESTART Acts to extend the Paycheck Protection Program (PPE) loan for small businesses.

You can make a donation to IIVA. It’s also selling t-shirts with the phrase “Keep Indy LIVE.” All proceeds will benefit Indiana venues.

Local musicians and celebrities hosted a virtual tribute and raised $45,000 aimed at saving Indiana venues back in May. It brought awareness to venues facing possible permanent closure because of the pandemic.
