Indiana State Museum unveils Lincoln’s mallet

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A unique discovery may help us learn more about one important historical figure.

Tuesday morning, Indiana State Museum officials showed off what they say is a mallet that belonged to Abraham Lincoln.

One expert said the mallet would have been used by the 16th president to drive iron wedges into logs, creating split rails for fencing.

If you’re wanting an up close look at the new artifact, it will be on display at the museum starting Feb. 12, Honest Abe’s birthday.
