INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — K-9 Koda with the Indiana State Police Indianapolis District will be a little more chic out in the field rocking a new bulletproof vest.

In a release made Wednesday, state police shared news of K-9 Koda’s new fit. The vest was donated by Vested Interest in K9s, a nonprofit that provides K-9 officers with bulletproof and stab-protective vests.

The vests are made in the U.S., custom-fitted, and NIJ-certified. Each vest costs around $1,800, weighs 4 lbs, and comes with a five-year warranty. K-9 officers at least 20 months old and currently employed in law enforcement or related groups are eligible.

The organization has donated almost 5,100 vests since its beginning in 2009.

Vested Interest also donated a vest to K-9 Jett with the Indiana State Police Greencastle District in May.

The group is open to donations, with funds going towards sponsoring more vests for the nearly 30,000 dogs in law enforcement.
