Indiana University student injured when he crashes scooter on campus

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana University Police Department said Monday that a 20-year-old student lost control of a motorized scooter Sunday night and crashed.

The student, who was not named by police, received severe trauma after striking his head on the road during the crash on Law Lane. Witnesses performed CPR on him until first responders arrived.

He was taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital in serious condition.

No criminal charges have been filed, said a news release from IU police Capt. Craig Munroe.

The release did not indicate the brand of the scooter. Bird and Lime, the businesses providing scooters for rent in Indianapolis, introduced them in Bloomington during September.
