Indianapolis group feeds homeless early Thanksgiving meal

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis group is making sure no one goes without a meal during the Thanksgiving holiday.

Hundreds showed up Sunday afternoon for an early Thanksgiving meal for the homeless at Lugar Plaza.

It was hosted by Hearts in Hand Homeless Outreach.

One of the organizers said he knows the reality these people are facing and it isn’t easy.

“At one time, if it wasn’t for my family, I’d be out on the streets,” said Tag Griffin, founder of Hearts in Hand Homeless Outreach. “I had an addiction problem at one time; I recovered from it. I know everyone out here who has issues as well can recover from it; it’s just not an easy road.”

Hearts in Hand was prepared to feed up to 500 people.
