Indianapolis Zoo says another elephant tests positive for deadly virus

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — After losing two elephants to a deadly virus, the Indianapolis Zoo says a third has tested positive.

The zoo stated on Twitter that Kedar, a 13-year-old male elephant, tested positive for Elephant Endotheliotropic Herpesvirus.

He is now being treated with antiviral medication.

In March, the Indianapolis Zoo lost two elephants, Nyah and Kalina, to the virus.

The zoo says that twice-weekly blood tests have been instituted since the deaths.
