INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Clear communication is an important part of our everyday lives, but individuals with hearing loss communicate differently.
Krysten Schmidt, an Indy Moms Blog contributor, joined Daybreak Wednesday to share tips for communicating with a person with hearing loss.
“If you’re speaking with someone with hearing loss, the biggest thing is to face that person,” said Schmidt. “Make sure you have their attention before you just jump into a subject and make sure you don’t have your mouth covered, which is really hard today.”
Schmidt said the introduction of masks into our everyday lives has made it even more essential for others to speak clearly and speak up to those who have hearing loss.
