Indy Parks Summer Concert and Movie series begins June 26

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Officials with Indy Parks say they are kicking off the summer with their free Summer Concert and Movie series. Starting with a drive-in showing of “The Lion King,” the program is set to start June 26 at 9:00 p.m. in Garfield Park.

In consideration of the current COVID-19 pandemic, Indy Parks has made adjustments to the series to keep the performers, audience and staff safe. While usually offering up to 70 concerts and movies, but have reduced that number to 16 concerts and four movies due to the virus.

“As we unveiled our Summer Concert and Movie series, we wanted to make sure our offerings were safe, fun, and attractive to the many people who depend upon our services,” said Linda Broadfoot, Indy Parks director, in a statement.

The showings will occur at Broad Ripple Park, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park, Garfield Park, and Eagle Creek Park, showing a wide variety of genres from jazz to folk performances.
