Indy Pride to hold ‘Virtual Indy Pride Celebration’

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The coronavirus continues to force groups and organizations to modify and cancel events.

Indy Pride, which will not have an Indy Pride Parade or a live Indy Pride Festival due to the pandemic, has announced they will hold a Virtual Indy Pride Celebration instead.

The virtual celebration will take place on June 20 from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.

“We hope that all of Indianapolis – the LBGTQ+ community and allies – will support our modified events to embrace our community which has been hit hard during the pandemic in terms of job loss and health risks. LGBTQ+ Pride transcends a month or event – it is something to raise up and recognize throughout the year and perhaps even more so during these trying times,”  said Chris Handberg, executive director of Indy Pride.

The organization says details of the virtual celebration will be announced in the coming weeks.
