Indy radio host offers to pay adoption fees for Ginger the dog

DANVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — An Indianapolis radio host has offered to help with adoption fees so Ginger the dog can find a home after 457 days in the Hendricks County Animal Shelter

Jake Query, co-host of the sports radio show “Query & Schultz” on Fox Sports 97.5, told News 8’s Jenny Dreasler he would cover the costs for a suitable adopter after seeing her story about 4-year-old Ginger, a female pit bull mix that is the longest-staying resident the shelter has seen in years. The cost to adopt an animal is $70 in cash plus a $9.95 money order to register a microchip.

Query tweeted Ginger’s photo and description Thursday, along with the offer to sponsor or assist with the adoption costs. He reminded potential takers that Ginger does not like cats

Ginger was brought to the shelter on Oct. 3, 2017, as a stray with a broken hip and heartworms. Now that the dog is in perfect health, the shelter would like to see Ginger go to a good home.

“That would mean the world to me, to everybody,” shelter director LaDonna Hughes said. “We’d miss her like crazy because we think of her as our own. We want them to be happy and for her to have a home. That would be awesome.”
