IPS adds evening hours for meal pick ups

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis Public School families will get more time to pick up meals for their children. The district provides pre-packaged breakfast and lunch to all IPS students during remote learning days.

To make it a little easier for working parents and guardians, the district has added evening hours from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at various meal distribution locations.

On Mondays and Wednesdays, that includes Arlington Middle School, Christian Park School, Cold Spring School, Meredith Nicholson School 96 and Super School 19. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, parents can pick up meals at Crispus Attucks High School, Daniel Webster High School 46, Francis W. Parker School 56, Harshman Middle School and James Whitcomb Riley School 43.

Parents and guardians are allowed to pick up meals two times per week for a total of five days worth of meals.

IPS Superintendent Aleesia Johnson says the new evening hours provides more flexibility for families who are busy learning during the school day or engaged at work.

Original pick up hours still exist. Monday through Thursday pick ups began at 9 a.m. and last until 3 p.m. and pick back up in the evening. The locations and times remain the same.

Meals are only available to students enrolled in IPS schools. The student’s name, grade and school must be provided at pick up.
