ISP: Woman lucky to be alive after serious crash on I-65

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – All lanes of Interstate 65 southbound at the south split were closed for a crash on Friday, state police said.

The crash happened just after 3:30 a.m. near the 110 mile marker in the southbound lanes.

Indiana State Police say the driver of the crash was traveling at a high rate of speed when she crashed into the barrier wall.

Medics transported the woman to a local hospital. 24-Hour News 8’s crews were told at the scene that the woman was unconscious but breathing when she was transported.

ISP said the woman is lucky to be alive based on the extent of damage to her car.

Lanes reopened around 5:30 a.m.
