Ivy Tech hopes to register 300 Hoosiers at drive-thru voter registration event

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Students at Ivy Tech Community College are on a mission to get more people in Indiana registered to vote.

The effort is part of National Voter Registration Day and is made possible by a national grant called the Campus Election Engagement Project, for which Ivy Tech received $1,500.

The college will host two drive-thru voter registration events on Sept. 22 and Oct. 2 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. outside the Illinois Fall Creek Center, located at 2535 North Capitol Avenue.

Those attending are asked to stay in their vehicle and masks are required. Volunteers will also be wearing masks.

During the event, people will be able to register to vote, update existing registration, check registration status and request an absentee ballot. Identification is needed and the process will take about five minutes.

This is a non-partisan event and is not affiliated with any political party.
