Lawmakers fill care packages for homeless veterans

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – State lawmakers came together Monday morning to fill care packages for homeless veterans.

It’s an effort to help homeless veterans get back on their feet.

Lawmakers say that while the number of homeless veterans is decreasing nationwide, in Indiana there was 6% increase in 2019.

Monday’s effort is the result of a partnership between House lawmakers and the American Legion Department of Indiana.

In January, lawmakers collected donations of food and hygiene items at the Indiana Statehouse.
