MONROE COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – One man is dead following a Saturday evening shooting in Monroe County.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a residence in the 3600 block of North Lauren Lane just after 9 p.m. on April 4.

After arriving at the residence, 56-year-old Donald Francis was found, with a single gunshot to the chest, laying in the driveway. A family was trying to provide first aid.

Francis was transported IU Health Bloomington Hospital where he later died.

Deputies said they believe the fatal shooting stemmed from a domestic incident.

An argument supposedly broke out between Francis and another family member with it eventually moving outside. Francis, upon exiting the house, was carrying a handgun. The other family member then went to a vehicle, grabbed a handgun and shot Francis once in the chest, deputies said.

The names of those involved have not been released. The fatal incident remains under investigation.
