LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — The Tippecanoe County coroner says a man was crushed to death at a Lafayette manufacturing plant this week.

A piece of equipment fell on Jim Summers at Crossroad’s Galvanizing on Tuesday.

An autopsy showed the preliminary cause of death was blunt force trauma. That’s pending a toxicology report.

A spokesman at the company’s headquarters in Missouri would not comment on the incident. They opened the Lafayette plant in September 2018.

The Department of Labor says as in all workplace fatalities, they will complete a safety compliance inspection in 30 to 90 days.
