LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WISH) — A man was killed and a woman was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash in Tippecanoe County Friday morning, the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday.

Police say the crash occurred in the 2100 block of East County Road 800 South at approximately 6:58 a.m. That is about 10 miles south of Lafayette.

Rebecca Rider, 16, of Lafayette, was traveling west in a Subaru SUV. Rider went into the eastbound lane to pass another vehicle and collided head-on with a Saturn Aura driven by 43-year-old Dustin White, of Romney.

White was pronounced dead and was not wearing a seatbelt, according to police.

Rider was transported to IU Health Arnett Hospital. Her current condition is unknown.

Police do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
