Man rescued, seriously injured after fall off wall near the Indianapolis Zoo

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A man was seriously injured following a 35-foot fall near the Indianapolis Zoo, according to the Indianapolis Fire Department.

Crews were initially called to the 1200 block of West Washington Street just after 11:45 p.m. Tuesday night.

The 36-year-old man said that he had actually fallen asleep and fell nearly approximately 35-feet while sitting atop the limestone wall along the walking path that borders the Indianapolis Zoo.

IFD said the man was found on the ground in a wooded area.

It’s unclear why he was on the property or how long he had been on the property.

The man was transported to the hospital in serious condition. IFD said his injuries are not life-threatening.
