Marion County inmate passes away; death believed to be natural
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An inmate at the Marion County Jail is dead after experiencing a medical emergency early Friday morning.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened at around 4:30 Friday morning. The inmate, 43-year-old Sherwin Jones, was transported to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital for treatment.
However, Jones later died at the hospital.
Deputies say Jones had been in jail since Nov. 6, 2018 for a number of drug-related charges.
His death is thought to be natural. An autopsy will be performed in order to determine the exact cause of death.
