Multiple agency investigation leads to 5 drug arrests in Lawrence County

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Five drug arrests were made in Lawrence County on Wednesday following an investigation into drug-related activity, according to the Indiana State Police.

ISP says the investigation involved the Mitchell Police Department, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, and officers from ISP’s Drug Enforcement Section and the Bloomington District.

Over the course of the investigation, the law enforcement officers came to believe that State Road 37 North was being used to transport drugs and were then able to identify a suspected vehicle.

A subsequent traffic stop of the previously-identified vehicle, just north of Old State Road 37 in northern Lawrence County, was performed.

During that stop, the driver, 25-year-old Adam Starr, initially provided officers with a false name. After correctly identifying the driver, it was discovered that Starr was wanted on a number of warrants originating out of Monroe County.

A female passenger, later identified as 19-year-old Stacy Herrington, also supplied officers with a fake name. She was also wanted on several Monroe County warrants. A third passenger, 38-year-old Robert Grubb, was wanted on warrants out of Monroe County as well.

Two other passengers, 19-year-old Alexis Grubb and 43-year-old Carrie Sparks, were also taken into custody.

A search of the suspects’ vehicle turned up five grams of methamphetamine, paraphernalia and other unidentified items.

They were all transported to the Lawrence County Jail where they face a number of preliminary drug-related charges.
