NBA All-Star panel’s legacy projects include park to honor Delphi murder victims

NBA announces grants to invest in Indiana youth

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Legacy projects announced Thursday by the NBA All-Star 2021 Host Committee include a park in honor of two Delphi girls found dead in 2017.

The families of Abby Williams, 13, and Libby German, 14, and the L & A Park Foundation will build a memorial park in Delphi in memory of the girls. The girls were found murdered Feb. 14, 2017, near a trail in Delphi.

Funds from the host committee will be used to construct a walking trail and install seven fitness training stations on the trail.

Eric Erskin, a board member of the foundation, said in a statement, “The L & A Park Foundation is truly honored to be named a recipient of the NBA All-Star 2021 Legacy Grant. We appreciate the opportunity to provide the scholarship to a deserving student from the Delphi Community Schools 2021 graduating class. The grant allocation for the walking/fitness trail at the Abby and Libby Memorial Park will be a wonderful contribution to the health and wellness of our community.”

A complete list of the grant recipients was posted Thursday.
