New Castle man, 19, dies in rollover crash; 4 others injured

NEW CASTLE, Ind. (WISH) — A 19-year-old man died and four other people were sent to the hospital after a Sunday morning crash in Henry County.

Around 2 a.m., deputies with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersection of Brown Road and County Road 500 East on a report of a rollover crash with multiple injuries and arrived to find a Chevrolet Tahoe off of the north side of Brown Road.

Indiana State Police crash investigators came to the scene to assist and Trooper Mark Hanna took over the crash investigation, ISP said.

A preliminary investigation determined the Tahoe was traveling east when it entered a right-hand curve and left the roadway for an unknown reason, rolling and coming to rest on its wheels.

Kodie Skelton, 19, of New Castle, was riding in the backseat and died in the crash. The car’s other occupants were taken to area hospitals for treatment: driver, 18-year-old Logan Chambers, of Kennard; passenger Amanda Poland, 17, of New Castle; passenger Logan Barkey, 18, of Spiceland; and passenger Elizabeth Wallace, 18, of New Castle.

Investigators believe the occupants were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
