One dead following crash on northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — One person is dead following a crash Monday evening.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was sent to a crash at East 38th Street and Dubarry Road just after 6 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a male unresponsive trapped in a gray Chevy HHR. Police said two other vehicles were also involved in the crash.

When medics arrived, they pronounced the driver of the Chevy HHR, Stanley Jones 61 dead on scene.

After investigation, investigators learned a silver Chevy Tahoe was driving eastbound on East 38th Street in the left lane when the Chevy HHR pulled out northbound from Durbarry Road into the Tahoe’s path, causing both vehicles to collide, sending them into westbound traffic.

A black Jeep Wrangler was traveling westbound in the right lane when the driver says they saw the collision and swerved right, causing their vehicle to jump the curb in an attempt to try and avoid the Chevy HHR; the Chevy HHR hit the left side of the Jeep.

The drivers of the Tahoe and Jeep Wrangler were taken to Eskenazi Hospital for standard check-up.

The Marion County Corner’s Office said there is no cause and manner available at this time.

No alcohol or drugs are suspected in the crash.
