Parents call for change to failing schools

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Big changes could be on the way for some Indianapolis Public Schools.

On Tuesday school leaders received more than 1,00 signatures of parents, grandparents and even students all calling for improvements.

The IPS superintendent and several school board members were on hand to accept the petition. The signatures were a part of a petition circulated in support of the Stand parent plan called “Every child, every neighborhood: A parent vision for excellence in IPS schools.”

The move comes after statistics showed almost half of all IPS students attend D or F rated schools.
