Power of Children Awards winner discusses inclusivity, Tree of Life shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is honoring some of the nation’s best and brightest kids for the work they’re doing to brighten our world.

The museum honored these kids with their Power of Children Awards on Friday night.

Power of Children winner Peyton Klein and Awards Director Debbie Young dropped by our studios Saturday to tell us more about the event.

Peyton has a program called Global Minds Initiative, which is a youth organization that helps students form social bonds and intellectual friendships.

Peyton is also from Pittsburgh and is a member of the Tree of Life Synagogue and spoke about the shooting that occurred a couple of weeks ago.

“We’re at a pivotal time in history and everyone needs to recognize that youth are not only the future leaders, but leaders now. When these terrible things hit out communities, it’s all of our jobs to respond, not only with unity but with measures to make sure they don’t happen again.”
