Prevent Child Abuse Indiana celebrates ‘Wear Blue Day’

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Prevent Child Abuse Indiana is celebrating National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

The organization kicked off the month participating in “Wear Blue Day.”

One symbol that represents the cause is the “Pinwheels for Prevention.”

“What I love about the pinwheel is that it takes action for a pinwheel to move and it certainly takes a lot of action for us to invest in a child,” CEO Sharon Pierce said.

Pierce said these efforts aim to raise awareness to the issue and the programs that are in place to stop child abuse from happening.

“None of us can do everything but all of us can do something,” explained Pierce.

The city is also recognizing the month Friday night by lighting up Monument Circle with the color blue.
