Sheriff’s office warns of phone scam

HOWARD COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — The Howard County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a phone scam.

HCSO said that pre-recorded phone messages are being received that state that a warrant has been issued for someone in the household. When residents call the number left on the message, the recording states that the message is from the Howard County Sheriff’s Office.

HCSO wants residents to know that no pre-recorded messages are sent by the office regarding active criminal warrants.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the persons behind this scam are asked to call 765-456-2031.
