Silver Alert canceled after 83-year-old Avon man found safe

UPDATE: Clarence Mahurin was found safe and was back with his family on Friday afternoon, authorities in Hendricks County said just before 6 p.m.

AVON, Ind. (WISH) — A Silver Alert has been issued for an 83-year-old man missing from Avon who had been the subject of an earlier Silver Alert this year.

Clarence Mahurin is described as 6-feet-1 and 183 pounds, Avon Police Department said. He has gray hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans and driving a silver 2004 Ford Explorer with Indiana plate FB7948.

Mahurin was last seeen about 1:30 p.m. Friday.

He is believed to be in extreme danger and may require medical assistance. 

A Silver Alert also was issued in February for Mahurin, but he was located by officers with Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and checked out by medical staff.
