Soccer club surprises health care workers fighting pandemic

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The St. Francis Soccer Club surprised hospital staff at Franciscan Health on the south side Saturday.

Around 50 cars paraded through the parking lot and some staff members were able to come outside and wave back.

Organizers and health care workers said it was a much needed break.

“It was really amazing and joyous to see them out here honking their horns and excited to see us,” said Krystal Brazel with Franciscan Health.

Steve Campbell with the St. Francis Soccer Club said the organization is happy to give back to a hospital that has supported them throughout the years.

“I just want them to know that all the kids and families with the St. Francis Soccer Club really appreciate what they’re doing especially during these difficult times,” said Campbell. “For them to be out there on the front line and work in the conditions they’ve had to work in is instrumental in getting people healthy.”

A hospital spokesperson said other parades have happened outside the hospital and their staff is grateful for the support.
