INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indiana Department of Transportation says there will be some traffic changes on Southport Road and State Road 37 starting Sunday, according to an announcement made Friday.

INDOT says the switches come to allow crews to continue working on the Interstate 69 and Southport Road interchange.

The closures are expected to last a week. During this time, State Road 37 will be inaccessible from Old Southport Road and Banta Road, but these ramps will reopen at the end of the seven days.

Upon reopening, traffic along State Road 37 will be moved onto new pavement. INDOT says the speed limit will remain at 45 mph.

Construction is expected to improve State Road 37 from Indianapolis to Martinsville and work towards the completion of I-69 connecting Evansville to Indianapolis. I-69 construction is expected to be finished by late 2024.
