What you need to know about truckers’ I-465 ‘slow roll’ protest

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Motorists on Interstate 465 on Wednesday may have noticed the changeable-copy signs read “Minimum speed 45 mph. No trucks left lane. It’s the law.”

The signs also reminded slower traffic to keep to the right.

The message could be a warning from Indiana State Police and Indiana Department of Transportation to truck drivers ahead of Thursday’s “slow roll” protest in Indianapolis. It’s supposed to start at 11 a.m.

Hundreds of truck drivers plan to drive from 45 mph to 50 mph around I-465 twice.

As we’ve reported, the truck drivers are hoping this protest will bring attention to government regulations that truck drivers call unfair.

They say the regulations implemented in 2017 force truck drivers to use an electronic logging device to track their hours on the road.

They say the devices force them to have shorter amounts of time to deliver products to their destinations.
