When a student called 911 for help with his homework a Lafayette dispatcher solved the problem

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) –When a young student called 911 recently to ask for help with his math homework, a Lafayette P.D. 911 dispatcher didn’t hesitate to help him solve the problem.

You wouldn’t blame Antonia Bundy for thinking it was a prank call at first but she remained calm and talked to the young man about why he was calling.

The Lafayette Police Department posted the audio of the 911 call between Bundy and the child on Twitter Friday afternoon.

“I had a really bad day and, I just…. I don’t know… I just came to tell you that,” the child says at the beginning of the call.

“What made the day so bad?” Bundy asked.

“Tons of homework… and it’s so hard,” the child continues.

Recognizing that the boy wasn’t calling just to waste her time, Bundy jumps in and helps out.

After the young man reads her the math problem, the only one he had left to complete Bundy set about solving it with him.

“Thank you,” he later tells Bundy. “I’m sorry for calling you, but I really needed help.”

“You’re fine! We’re always here to help,” Bundy added in a reassuring voice.

The Lafayette P.D. praised Bundy on social media, adding that while they don’t advise using 911 as a math tutor, they were happy Bundy made the child’s day.
