Woman in serious condition after house fire on east side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A woman was hospitalized in serious condition after a house fire Saturday afternoon on the city’s east side.

Indianapolis Fire Department was sent shortly after 12:10 p.m. Saturday to the house fire in the 2900 block of Station Street. That’s southwest of East 30th Street and North Sherman Drive.

Firefighters found heavy flames coming from the back of the two-story home. The fire was under control in about 20 minutes.

Five adults and three children were displaced by the fire. The American Red Cross was working with the fire department’s victims’ assistance personnel to find shelter.

The injured woman was believed to have suffered from smoke inhalation.
