Yoga for First Responders holds training in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Firefighters from around the country are in Indianapolis to learn about yoga from an organization called Yoga for First Responders. 

The Indianapolis Fire Department is hosting an accredit training for Yoga for First Responders. 

The goal is to address the stress, mental health and overall wellness of  firefighters.

A six day certification class started Monday and runs through Saturday. 

Each day is 10 hours long, and includes workshops and evolutions. 

There are seven IFD firefighters here and several others from other departments in other states and even country. 

Once the firefighters taking the class are certified, they can train other firefighters. 

Students in the class are from fire and police departments, psychologists, and staff yoga instructors.
