Lockout lifted for 4 Tippecanoe County schools

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – Two people are in custody, linked to a burglary investigation that put four Tippecanoe County schools on lockout.

The Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office says a homeowner arrived at her house on Mayflower Court, off Old U.S. 231 near McCutcheon High School, around 1:30 Friday afternoon and found two people inside.

The two men took off.

The homeowner and a neighbor were able to get a description of their car and a license plate number.

Deputies followed the car into the Mayflower Mill subdivision, where the two men abandoned the car and took off on foot.

One of the men was caught at the McCutcheon soccer fields.

McCutcheon, Mayflower Mill Elementary, Wea Ridge Elementary and Wea Ridge Middle School were all put on lockout during the search.

Deputies found a gun in the car and were concerned one or both of the men could be armed.

K- 9 units were brought in to help search for the second suspect.

Investigators say he was found in the Sterling Heights neighborhood.

Lockouts at the four schools were lifted at dismissal time.
