Man accused of robbing woman in OH leads police on chase into IN

WAYNE COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – A man who police believe robbed an elderly woman in Ohio on Wednesday led police on a vehicle chase that ended in Indiana.

According to 24-Hour News 8’s sister station WDTN, the woman was robbed Wednesday night at a Kroger on Smithville Road in Dayton. Police were looking for the suspect Thursday afternoon when the chase began.

Indiana State Police Pendleton Post say the pursuit began on Interstate 70 westbound at the 5 mile marker in Ohio.

Troopers were on standby in Wayne and Henry counties, in case the chase entered Indiana, which it did. Police say the suspect went around more than one semi during the pursuit in order to avoid stop sticks set up by troopers.

The chase ended at the 138 mile marker when the driver pulled into the median and got out of the car. Police say the man then ran over to the eastbound lanes of I-70 where he was apprehended by Richmond Police.

Richmond PD and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department are handling the investigation.
