Man arrested following thefts from 2 Lawrence churches

LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) — Lawrence police have arrested a man after connecting him to theft cases involving two churches.

32-year-old Devin Glascock of Indianapolis has been arrested in the case. The Lawrence Police Department said anonymous tips led to his arrest after surveillance photos were made public.

LPD says he was already in custody on unrelated charges when the tips came in.

Police say he pretended he need help at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 10000 E. 56th St. on Dec. 22, then snatched a purse and left.

On Jan. 7, he allegedly told members at Lawrence United Methodist Church, 5200 Shadeland Ave. that he had misplaced his cellphone, then stole a deposit bag that included cash and checks.

He faces two felony counts of theft in the case.

The case now heads to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.
