Man dies following west side apartment fire

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The man who firefighters pulled from a burning apartment complex Thursday night has died.

Firefighters responded to the Port O Call Apartments near Rockville Road and Interstate 465 around 8:20 p.m. on the report of a fire with entrapment.

The Wayne Township Fire Department said crews pulled a man from an upstairs apartment. He was transported to a Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital in serious condition, where officials say he later died as a result of his injuries.

The man’s name has not been released.

The fire was marked under control about 25 minutes after firefighters arrived. Two apartments were damaged and three other people were treated at the scene, firefighters said.
