Man drowns in Morse Reservoir
CICERO, Ind. (WISH) — A man drowned in Morse Reservoir in Hamilton County Thursday afternoon, according to a DNR official.
The victim has been identified as a 22-year-old man.
Dive crews and rescue boats were deployed to the area of 1329 Lighthouse Point around 4 p.m.
A DNR official said that two women were in a pontoon boat pulling two men on an inner tube when the tube hit a wave, knocking the men over. The pontoon circled around to try to save the men but were unable to. One of the men was a weak swimmer and did not surface.
Alcohol was a factor in the drowning, according to DNR.
DNR used a side scan sonar to locate the body, and Noblesville divers retrieved the body. DNR investigator says the victim did not have on a life jacket.
DNR is working to notify the victim’s next of kin.
The is the first drowning accident at Morse Reservoir since 2008.
